It seems that the scrap quilt that was destined to the school fundraiser is changing directions. I discovered while having a heart to heart chat with DD2 that she really truly would like a baby item in every sense of the word for her basket. I totally understand that. When I have an idea in my mind for something I am looking for just the right item. Why should she feel any differently. DD1 told me that she thought the scrap quilt was going to be a new baby gift for her teacher. We had discussed previously giving her a quilt so I understand where her thinking came in. So... problem solved :) The scrap quilt will go to the new baby due in winter and I will be more than happy to pick some fabrics and make a true baby quilt for the basket. DD2 felt badly because she didn't want to hurt my feelings, I assured her I was fine and have no problems with this change of direction everything worked out the way they were supposed to. I had been wondering what kind of quilt pattern and fabrics I would use for the teachers baby and now that is solved :) I love how things work out!!!
This beauty hasn't bloomed much at all this summer due to the extreme heat. This past week I noticed a bud and each day a bit more pink. Yesterday I could only see a petal and this morning a full gorgeous bloom! This week I have really been nesting and settling into this house. We have been doing all sorts of things around here and I have been really fully living here. I really feel like I am home and this bloom made me think, yes, I am blooming where I am planted!

What a beautiful rose. It's perfect. I'm in the midwest, too, and the leaves are falling more and more everyday. That photo would be nice to see again about mid January!
Thank you LuAnn and welcome. I agree with seeing a rose in January. That is about the time we are getting hit with a good snow! :)
Good Morning Prairieharmony, Things have a way of working out don't they as with your quilt. What a beautiful coloured rose, do you find your rose flowers are smaller in the heat then return to full bloom when the weather cools. This happened when we lived on the Island of Cyprus. Such a treat when they flower. Best Wishes Daphne
Good Morning to you as well Daphne :) Yes, things do have a wonderful way of working out. I see this so many times in my daily life and I am always so very thankful. I think we make a general plan and life has a way of making it work the way it needs to. I hadn't really thought about the size of the rose and the temperature, however since you mentioned it and I thought about it... there is a size difference. They are more vibrant, fuller and I believe they last longer. This morning I saw a new bloom and it made me smile. Have a wonderful day :)
