Happy November! Let me just say first how thankful and blessed I am to have such a wonderful husband and family. Twice a year I go for a long weekend to quilt retreat or camp as we call it. This past weekend I was at camp and only just discovered how scheduling posts works for my blog the morning I left. Next time I hope to leave some fun posts in my absence that are prescheduled :)
Remember my trick or treat post? While I was away I worked on the trick part of the post and finished it!
I took this to camp. I pinned it together at home before I left and machine quilted it on my Pfaff while there. This is the first bed sized quilt I have finished. It is the second quilt I have ever quilted by machine! I learned to machine quilt last week and talk more about it here when I quilted the Benefit Crazy Quilt. This quilt is a Full/Queen size. I am so excited to see it when I pull it out of the laundry freshly washed and all soft and crinkly!
This is the back side of the lodge that we stay in. I thought it was a perfect backdrop to photograph the quilt and really see the whole pattern since the star's are so large.
This is a fire pit in the yard below the lodge. The extremely dry summer we had made a lot of the leaves fall off the tree's early so the fall leaves aren't very abundant but what is there have turned to brilliant fall colors. I enjoyed what was there and the beautiful landscape. I look forward to enjoying the peace and quiet when we are there and of course feel so blessed to have such wonderful company of friends while there sewing together.
This is the view off of the deck of the lodge where the quilt is hanging. We always enjoy spectacular sunset's on the deck in the evening. We all look like tourists taking pictures of the sunsets :)
This is the driveway into the camp. As soon as I turn down the lane I am at peace and leave the hectic crazy world behind me to relax and sew and enjoy time away. Though we all miss our family's and usually talk to them on the phone each evening, having this time to just sew and not do normal household duties as well is such a treat for us. We get a lot done because we never worry about staying up too late or getting up early we just sew and sleep and wake whenever we want. It is wonderful. We share meals around the table together and all cook together. It is a lot of fun with a wonderful group of ladies. We learn so many new things from each other. When someone has taken a class or learned a new sewing technique they teach the others and share what they have learned. No matter what skill level you are in sewing and quilting you can always learn new things and I do each time I go.
This is on the main highway on the way home. A few miles later I am in the hustle and bustle of the busy city. We are always so sad to leave this special place but we are all ready to get back to our family and homes. We will be back in the spring to quilt and sew again and share what we have learned and the exciting new projects we are working on.

My mother and aunts throw a quilting retreat every October and I was able to go this year (http://bld-in-mt.blogspot.com/2012/10/my-first-dress-sewing-retreat.html) It was WONDERFUL. Thus, I am so happy for you! What a wonderful experience to share and learn together and your quilt turned out superb!
