My Day in a Post

Today I thought I would do something a little different.  It's the middle of summer and our house is full of sleepy heads including myself.  However today I decided to get up early (for me) and thought I would journal my day as I go.    I have noticed that as much as I am enjoying staying up late and sleeping in I am not getting as much done during the day and that makes for a messy house which sorry but true makes me feel grouchy.  So... here is a peek into this day and what I am doing.

6:00 a.m.  DD2 came in to wake me up Rise and Shine!  Tried to cuddle and go back to sleep but that is like trying to sleep on a trampoline with kids bouncing.

7:00 a.m. Gave up sleeping got up and made DD2 breakfast, tidied up kitchen while talking through DD2 on how to fill sink and load dishes to wash by hand. (she's learning pretty well)  Attempted to wake up DD1 (ever heard of let sleeping dogs lie?)  She said she would get up early tomorrow lol

7:15 a.m. start first load of laundry, start making scones, fold laundry in baskets and put everything away (whew I'm normally sound asleep right now!)

8:30 a.m. see DD2 off to vacation bible school

9:00 a.m. pick up  laundry start second load, hang out first load on line, read blog comments, posted and started writing this while multi tasking by eating a fresh scone for breakfast.

9:20 a.m. heading outside to sweep and hose off patio from trimming and mowing the yard.  Will probably be out there in the heat a while!  Pour yourself a nice cold glass of tea while you wait, at least one of us should relax and be comfortable :)

10:45 a.m. As I thought I was outside longer than anticipated but shocked at what I accomplished in such a short time!  I swept the grass clippings off the patio pulled loose weeds and sprayed off the patio and rock patio as well as filled a whole bag full of grass and weed clippings.  When I finished that I carried buckets of water from the wading pool to water plants while it was draining, sprayed it out and refilled it.  But that's not all I went around the side of the house and pulled the weeds from that garden as well as watered it. If  keep this routine up every day I'll be bored by the end of the week!  HA!  Just wishful thinking.

11:00 a.m. break

11:15 a.m. Started 3rd load of laundry hanging out 2 . Washed up dishes Washed reusable air conditioner filters.  Rinsed AC unit coils off outside.

12:00 p.m. Back out to water seedling grass.

12:20 p.m. 1st load of laundry back in off the line BOY it's getting hot out there!  The breeze was nice since I was half wet from watering the seedling grass.  I think it's time for lunch.  I have gotten  more done in a morning than I have gotten done for a long time.  I wonder how hard it would be to switch from going to bed late to getting up early?  I do enjoy hanging out my laundry in the wee hrs. of the morning when it's much cooler and the sun is down.  It's just miserable right now in the midwest!  Right now the temperature is currently 91 degrees which is ok but it's only noon.  It feels much hotter so I'm thankful for 91.

1:47 p.m.Wow I'm loosing steam!  Naptime??? lol  Must stop the yawning and head out to hang up laundry #3 and take down #2.  I came to a screeching halt when I started thinking about what I would like/need to get rid of in order to downsize and what we need/use vs just sits around.  I have come to the conclusion that my sewing and scrapbooking as mentioned before are the biggest space takers and I will not be able to reduce until I tackle this area first.  Everything else is pretty easy in comparison.

2:00 p.m. Hanging up load  #4 starting #5. The water meter reader came by while I was outside.  I didn't speak with him but was afraid with all the water usage this month that he would knock on the door to make sure we didn't have a leak.  He didn't so I must not have used as much as I though thankfully!  I have a hard time cleaning up around the house and cleaning walks and patio's that have dirt and mud without spraying as well as starting new grass.  Ugh can't wait until the new grass gets a good start and doesn't need watered several times a day.

4:00 p.m. Cat fountain cleaned and refilled. Load #5 is on the line #6 in the washer or maybe it's #6 and 7?  I think I have now lost count and it's time to start dinner.  My day is winding down and I don't expect to do much more this evening except finish laundry and knit more dishcloths.  We will see how it goes I  might find more energy but don't want to get a second wind because I won't be able to get up early tomorrow!  I hope everyone had a good and productive day today.  I sincerely hope now that my laundry is out of the way I can get something else done tomorrow.  We shall see, tomorrow is a new day :)
6:00 p.m. Heading to town to do some shopping in the evening while it's cooling down instead of the in the heat during the day.

10:16p.m.  Back from grocery shopping.  Everything is unloaded and put away. I am so thankful for the girls help putting it all away.  I'm very tired.

Well, that is my very long but fairly productive day today.  I can only hope that I get as much done or close to it tomorrow.  One thing is certain.  When I make a "to do" list I underestimate the amount of time it takes to complete the items on my list.  When I just do what is in front of me I feel a greater sense of accomplishment.  So as long as I am up and around early in the mornings instead of being a sleepy head, even though I work late into the evenings I think I will feel a greater sense of accomplishment and get more done.  Hoping you had a wonderful day today and rest well.  I know for certain I will :)

It's such a lovely feeling to know you've had a productive day isn't it? I am definitely most productive during the early hours, I get up around 6.30 am every day, can't sleep any longer. But by mid afternoon I've had enough and am ready to stop. Then I go and fall asleep in front of the telly in the evening!

Sue G. I can certainly relate to working hard and then relaxing in the afternoon. As you read in my post after lunch I hit a slump lol. I'm up early again today, though admittedly not as early and ready to face the day :)

I am always very late to bed. Often the wee small hours of the morning, so I sleep quite late. Unless the sun shines early through the window when I jump up early. On these early days I am always amazed at how much gets done.
Keep up the good work.

Don't unplug your hub and Monique Elisabeth; thank you very much. Though I am sometimes quite slow at responding to comments I do read them and appreciate them very much. I think naturally I am a second shift person if I were to work outside of our home. However I have to be up and going for the kiddo's :) It feels really good to get so much done in a day.
